Eternity!

Today 67 souls awoke to a wonderful and glorious day anxious to share with family and friends and as much of the world the good news of their success at the Olympic trials in Wichita.

They could hardly sleep the night before because of the excitement and accomplishment they just went through.  I imagine they showered and brushed their teeth while smiling into the mirror and dreaming of the opportunities that lay ahead,

Now on their way home together, laughing and recounting the several days before, they could not wait to get home and celebrate with family and friends.  Boarding the plane for another typical flight home you could just imagine their thoughts were far from; is this plane safe, will I make it home. If those thoughts were there they were fleeting. The reason why I say that is because in the late 80s I had a job based in Dallas Texas where it would not be unusual for me to be on 3 different flights and planes a day all week to where I would be going for my next appointment; by then it becomes pretty ho-hum.

I would guess as the closer the plane got to its destination the excitement mounted. They could see the lights of our Nations Capitol as the plane was desending…And then…in the blink of an eye…all 67 souls passed into eternity! Gone the memory of the games and accolades, dreams of the future and the coming Olympics…gone were mom and dad, brother and sister, boyfriend and girlfriend, husband and wife and great opportunities that waited all who on the plane.

Eternity! Now what! I would pray that many had made provision for an Eternity with God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Maybe and sadly there were those that never took the time or caring to come to God through Jesus Christ and yet they to will experience Eternity, in darkness; without God or family or friends or hopes and dreams of becoming their life ambitions…Our prayers and condolences go out to the family and friends for comfort, peace and understanding  during this heart breaking time and may God’s Holy Spirit move in a miraculous, way to heal and comfort.

NOW ALONE FOREVER!

I believe the memory of their past will be with them. I’m reminded of the story in the book of Acts the Bible tells of the story of a king who after hearing of the Gospel and the  way of Salvation rejected the Apostle Pauls pleading to Believe. The kings answer was “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuades me to be a Christian!  I believe those words and that decision will haunt the king for Eternity. I believe that every soul that goes Into eternity without accepting Jesus Christ as savior will be haunted for Eternity for every opportunity they had to accept Christ, or reject him.

In the Bible the Lord tells his followers that “I am the Way the Truth and the Life…NO person comes to God, except by Me! John 14:6

Please don’t plan your next adventure or event in life without knowing Jesus Christ…That will be the best decision you will ever make.

  1. Amen – a good word and reminder of the fragility of our earthly lives, and the finality of our eternal homes.

    Keep up the good work!
